Kvetoliby is a small town where everything follows an unremarkable routine. One day, however, everything changes - a busy highway is being repaired, and all the traffic is diverted via Kvetoliby. The inhabitants first observe the increased traffic reluctantly, especially when the cars begin to threaten the one-hundred-year old linden, but some of them gradually begin to adjust to the new situation.

Based on the fairy tale by Karel Jaromír Erben. Once upon a time, Prince Jaroslav's brothers fall in love with a mysterious princess from a painting, but disappear after going to distant lands to find her. The third prince embarks on the dangerous journey to Diamond Mountain in search of his two missing brothers Jaromir and Jindrich. In the kingdom of the rock princess (Libuse Safránková) he finds out what happened to his two brothers.

When former supervisor Evžen Huml, now on disability pension, returns from the spa to the small flat where he lives with the rest of his family in the small room behind the bathroom, he decides to move out of Prague to the peaceful countryside. He buys a cottage in the village of Třešňová, but there is one problem — there is still one former tenant in his dream cottage, Bohouš Císař, a pensioner too, who doesn't want to leave.
