This is the story of four American-born South Asian youngsters (Ameet, Saima, Ruby, and Bobby) who have to deal with the archaic customs brought to this country by their immigrant parents, of which one of the biggest is arranged marriage.

Follows the exploits of an Indian immigrant trying to make it in New York City in 1973.
