A young man studying in an academy secretarial practice makes writing letters addressed to an imaginary recipient who supposedly lives in Rome. One day, just for fun, it gets to write a love letter and, by chance, that letter is mailed and arrives at the hands of someone who, moved by curiosity, decided to inform the sender.

Story of several desperate ladies incarcerated somewhere in Italy in a camp for displaced women after the end of World War II. Lilia Silvi stars as Carina, an orphaned little seamstress, who is in the habit of sneaking out of her window at night, and go to the theater. Once back in her small chamber, she will act out all the parts of the play she has just witnessed.
