Kató Varga (Klári Tolnay) is unable to play its part in front of the Admissions Committee of the School of Dramatic Art. Geszty (Tivadar Bilicsi), severe President of the Commission maintains that she has no talent for acting and mercilessly tells you will never be an actress. Kató prepares to take revenge and under the false name of Katyi Csiba, dressed as a peasant village, obtains admission to the house Geszty. Turning everything upside down, she makes your life hell.

A cruise ship departs from America to the coasts of Europe that are booming in the war. Passengers from different nations include wealthy businessmen, actresses, artists, simple teachers, and secret agents for war-nations. At the start of the trip, the captain cuts the ship from the outside world.

The story follows the life of a bright and sensitive schoolboy growing up in an old, established boarding school in the city of Debrecen in eastern Hungary.

Sóvári, an actor, is in love with the actress Ibolya Pintér. Ibolya is also courted by the poor count Borsay, too, who could only be saved from bankruptcy if he marries the rich Spanish widow. Sóváry is jealous and wants to prove his acting skills too, at the same time, so he shows up in the Budapest Hotel dressed as the previously unseen Spanish widow, and teaches a lesson to the count, who is trying to seduce her (him). But suddenly the real Spanish widow arrives, too.
