Madan (played by Dev Anand) is a former cabbie who is a genius at gambling. His sister becomes sick with tuberculosis and to pay her hospital bills, he's drawn into a life of crime.

Carlos lives with his sister, Maria, off of the Indian coast in a fishing village. One day a mysterious young woman, Lisa, enters their lives, followed by a mysterious man, Tony. Maria and Tony fall in love with each other.
