Towards the end of the century an unusual boy grows up in the small wine-growing town of Etlville: he is Felix Krull, the son of a German vintner who prefers French champagne to his own product. As a women's favorite, he is driven toward a life of "bon vivant" rather than adapting to the social narrowness of a provincial city.
