João is musician on the verge of a divorce. Flora, his pregnant wife, has just broken-up with him. Forced to leave the house, João opts for isolation. After three months he is visited by Max, his longtime lost friend.

Taking place in 1870 in the still fledgling Brazilian Empire, Procuro teu auxílio para enterrar um homem tells the story of a mixed-race soldier, a cigana woman in mourning, and an elder bruxa on the tangled path they all walk. Exploring themes of sexuality, ethnicity and race and their implicit and explicit relationship to power, the film is a period piece that pierces to the core of issues that are deeply contemporary.
