Biography: British actress Emily Watson won acclaim with film roles such as Bess McNeil in Breaking the Waves, and the title character in Angela's Ashes. In 1997, she followed up with The Mill on the Floss, The Boxer, and Metroland. Watson's portrayal of a manic cellist in Hilary and Jackie (1998) earned her more praise. In 1999, she played the title role in the film based on Frank McCourt's novel, Angela's Ashes.
