At the threshold of a new school year, philosophy professor Mihai Gavrilescu, nicknamed Socrates by his students, is facing a number of problems including the feelings he has for the young and beautiful language teacher, the conflict with the severe math teacher, Isoscel, who disapproves of active involvement in solving the intellectual and spiritual dilemmas of the high school students, and most of all the love sufferings his daughter Anca experiences for the first time in her life.
