When Captain Erickson finds a baby in a lifeboat he abducts a prostitute, Singapore Sal, to care for the kid. The baby becomes ill, and Sal and Erickson together fight for his life; his fever breaks as they reach Frisco. Sal prepares to take the child and go ashore. She becomes suddenly ashamed of her old calling and leaves the baby with Erickson, sailing with Captain Sunday. Erickson sails after them and boards Sunday's ship.
