Coca Bloos

An aging military officer Niki Ardelean (Victor Rebengiuc) lives in Bucharest with his ill wife, Poucha (Coca Bloos). His son, Mihai (Marius Galea) was just killed in an accident, and his daughter, Angela (Dorina Chiriac), is pregnant. She has recently been married to Eugen Tufaru (Serban Pavlu), the son of Niki's best friend Florian (Razvan Vasilescu). Niki disagrees with Flo on many counts, especially when Angela and Eugen plan to move to the U.S. (ovguide.com)

Frant Tandara, former torturer in Romanian prisons, is ready to confess his crimes to a journalist and a former political prisoner. The two meet him at the train station in Giurgiu, where Tandara, a man with a shy demeanor, welcomes them by offering them flowers. But the confession presents problems right from the start: the tape recorder does not work, Tandara talks too fast or too slow... (film.com)

In post-Ceausescu Bucharest, everybody is struggling to make a living. Vasile Potop, a movie theatre manager, tries to find the money for an abortion for his wife Carolina because he cannot afford to raise three kids. He tries to borrow from his attractive ticket seller Stela, but she quits the theatre and becomes a hooker. He then tries to sell his copy of Ceausescu's book that was not destroyed in the revolution, but that leads him into all kinds of trouble. (Will Gilbert)
