The crooks in London know how it works. No one carries guns and no one resists the police. Then a new gang appears that go one better. They dress as police and steal from the crooks. Runnicles (Corbett), a clerk at a small-town British bank (openly depicted in the film as the branch of Barclays Bank in Windsor High Street), is horrified when a package arrives for him containing pornography rather than the new electronic calculator he expected. His efforts to dispose of it, while avoiding detection, turn into a farce, as the bank manager (Lowe), a bank inspector, the police, two call girls and a local criminal (to whom the pornography actually belongs) all get involved.

After a mix-up with a member of the Royal Family, traffic wardens Eric and Ernie decide to take a holiday. When they arrive they find themselves caught up in the plot of Le Pirate the jewel-thief who wants to use them to smuggle. But other jewel thieves are after the jewels and Eric continues to find their bodies. While Eric and Ernie fight over the love of Claudette, they wonder what is going on, and whose side is she on...?

This is not the same kind of film as the 1962 production, Tom Jones. In fact, it is a "nudie musical", as evidenced by the presence of singing star Georgia Brown in the dual role of Jenny Jones and Mrs. Waters. The project originated as a Las Vegas stage presentation, with Nicky Henson in the lead. The plot of the Henry Fielding novel about the "boy born to be hanged" is followed in spirit rather than to the letter, with busty Joan Collins thrown in like a lagniappe as a lady highwayman. Two salesmen travel to a small South American Country to peddle their wares. However the country is in the middle of a major conflict between the Government led by Diaz and the rebels led by Torez. When Torez is accidentally killed the rebels mistaken pick up one of the salesmen, Eric, as he looks like Torez.
