In Bern, a confluence of events forces Max, a radio commentator, to face the personal sense of frustration he feels in politics, his job and his relationship. Max and Chrige are a nice pair, she's a Jodel singer and he is a linguist. While flying to Sweden, on his way to a conference, his plane crashes into the Baltic Sea. But Max survives the accident and reemerges from the waters, eventually reaching the coast of a Chinese island. Only minutes later, the airplane's pilot also reaches the shores. Max and the pilot are met by friendly locals who help them, but they are unable to leave the place and go back home.
