Arjunan Pillai (Innocent), who was partial to his son Ajayan (Baiju) over his 4 daughters, marries off his 3 daughters Jayalakshmi (Bindu Panikkar), Jayaprabha (Kalpana) & Jayasree (Charmila) to a cook, Sudhakaran (Jagathi), a municipal exterminator, Thangakuttan (Harisree Asokan) & an auto rickshaw driver Uthaman (Jagadish), & his son to a rich girl. However, upsetting his plans, when Ajayan cheats Arjunan Pillai out of his ancestral home, & leaves him broke, his son-in-laws come to his rescue.

Diwakaran (Kalabhavan Mani), a bullock cart driver, always dreamt of buying a truck. After the money he collected for the truck gets stolen, he gives in to his grandmother Achupenn's (Valsala Menon) wish to dive for gold in the Siruvani river, after she predicted that he will strike gold on the 18th day. When he didn't succeed even after 18 days, he turns to a black magician who advices him to sacrifice a child younger than 5 years. Diwakaran's eyes fall on his dead sister-in-law's orphaned kid.

Nandagopal (Mammootty), a high-ranking & rich IAS officer, pampers & raises his epileptic sister Ammu, resulting in her being short-tempered & spoilt. Nandan marries Gauri (Shobana) on condition that Gauri's younger brother Venu (Dileep) marries Ammu, without disclosing Ammu's condition. Although Venu learns of it, it was too late. After the marriage, Ammu finds it tough to adjust to Venu's environment, complicated by the fact that Nandan still catered to Ammu's whims & continued to pamper her.

Nandakumar (Mukesh) & Shashankan (Harisree Asokan), after various failed odd jobs, opens an Ayurvedic clinic, armed with knowledge gained from the medical texts of Nandakumar's long-gone father Vasudeva Panicker (Narendra Prasad), who was a great Ayurvedic doctor during his time. A pharmaceutical company approaches Nandakumar with a research job offer to find a cure for asthma, & Nandakumar takes up the challenge, knowing well that the company was the reason his father disappeared in disgrace.

Vikram (Unni Mukundan), son of cop Vasudeva Shenoy (Anoop Menon), & Adithyan (Dulquer Salmaan), son of thief Kunjunni Menon (Santhosh Keezhattoor), are childhood rivals, who compete for everything including the attention of their lady pal Deepika Pai (Namitha Pramod). Seeing Shenoy groom his son to be a Sub-Inspector, Adithyan tries to be one too, but Shenoy dupes Adithyan's mother Lakshmi (Lena) to cheat him out of the job. A dejected Adithyan leaves home, but chases a higher dream.
