Mountie Matt O'Brien is assigned to escort Miss Owens to a remote outpost. But when he finds an illegal mining operation there that is smuggling gold across the border, his superior Sgt. Means orders him to leave.

Walter Calvert (Davison Clark) calls upon his brother Henry (Davison Clark) at his eerie old house and demands a share of the family fortune, and threatens to kill Henry if he doesn't get it. A few days later Henry's car goes over a cliff and he is presumed dead. Bob Stewart (Robert Kent, a detective whom Henry asked to investigate the matter if he should die, starts his investigation and Duke Ellis (Tim Ryan, a newspaper reporter friend is with him.

Two radio comics go to Desert Springs, one to get away from his jealous wife and the other to escape the attentions of a comedienne. The body of an agent is found in their room and later disappears. After some sleuthing by the actors and some other detectives, changed just enough from well-known fiction-and-movie detectives to keep from being sued, it is discovered that the agent was not killed, but his body had been concealed by his doctor.

Having been framed for murder, Tim returns from prison to clear his name and retrieve the ranch taken from his uncle with a forged will. He finds the real will but his friend Johnny becomes jealous when he sees Tim with his girlfriend and gives Tim's hiding place away to the men responsible for Tim's trouble.
