Don Celeste, one day during Carnival, is cycling along a lane in the open country when he is attacked by three masqueraded girls. Two of them hold him down while the third, the one dressed up as a devil, rapes him. The priest should report the fact to the police, but the bishop, in order to avoid scandal, with tones that savour more of an order than of advice, suggests that he investigates the matter alone.
