Ashwin (Jiiva), a daredevil press photographer, surreptitiously helps a team of ambitious & educated youths, lead by Vasanthan (Ajmal Ameer), to win the state election by exposing their opposing politicians' corruption in his newspaper 'Dina Anjal', but after Vasanthan is sworn in as the Chief Minister, Ashwin realizes that not all was what it seems.

A thousand years ago, Gora and his cohorts arrived at the Anumanthapuram village, a part of Gingee ruled by the Pallava king Nandivarman, to loot the gold treasure in the temple of Aanumantheeshwarar. Things change when King Nandivarman dies at the hands of a Gora.

Three young men plan a heist but find the bank already hijacked by elderly men. The public supports the elderly, exposing corruption among bank officials and igniting a wave of community fervor.

In 1991, refugees wrongly accused in a high-profile assassination were jailed in Vellore Fort. Though later proven innocent, many remained imprisoned. In 1995, 43 escaped—some recaptured, others fled abroad seeking freedom.
