Ramesan Nair (Mohanlal) is a Kerala govt employee, cocooned in his own small and happy world. Ramesan's family consists of his wife Lekha (Meera Vasudev), son Manu (Arjun Lal) and daughter Manju (Baby Niranjana). His biggest ambition is to see that his son gets into the IAS (Indian Administrative Service), something he himself had failed to achieve despite being a brilliant student. All in all, they form the very picture of loving family, with a bright future. However, fate has other ideas.

Monichan (Mammootty) is a hardworking farmer who leads a happy life in a village in the hills of Idukki along with wife Susamma and their two smart daughters. Monichan decides to admit his daughters in a convent school in the nearby town to give them better education. In the town, he meets Soman Pillai (Jagathy Sreekumar) who makes him a partner in all his illegal activities. But soon a heart-breaking catastrophe happens in Monichan's life which makes him realize his mistakes.

Ajith Thomas (Dileep), a TV reporter, when he finds the dead body of a man whom he happened to capture on camera a few days ago, broadcasts the image of the woman who was on camera with him, thus finding Krishna Priya (Meera Jasmine), his widow. Soon, Ajith finds that Krishna Priya is being hunted by a group of criminals running a huge sex racket, & that Krishna Priya's dead husband Hari Kumar (Indrajith), was also part of it. Ajith tries to protect Krishna from them, but jeopardizing himself.

Madhavan (Mammootty), a cinema operator, lives with his wife Lakshmi (Padmapriya) & daughter Ambili (Sanusha) in Kuttanad, Kerala. He stumbles upon Pavan (Yash), a kid who was the victim of the Gujarat earthquake. Although Madhavan & his family couldn't understand Yash because of language differences & vice versa, Pavan soon becomes a member of the family. But after news about Pavan being there, flashes on TV, various societal & political elements started coming in between Madhavan & Pavan.

Sivankutty comes to Coimbatore in search of Unnikrishnan (Suresh Menon), a well-off stock broker, who lived with his wife Lata (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy) & daughter Lakshmi (Nivedita), with the aim of taking Unnikrishnan back to his village to clear his name in front of his estranged wife & daughter, over a murder he was alleged to have committed when he was in the 7th grade, but which was really perpetrated by Unnikrishnan & pal Alex Varghese (V.G. Muralikrishnan), now a thriving doctor in Palghat.

Young & in love, Achutha Menon (Aryan) & Gracy (Niveda Thomas), a Hindu & a Christian, get married against all odds but only to split shortly afterwards. 40 years later, they meet each other again, & realize that they still had feelings for each other. However, Gracy was now a mother & a wife to Mathews (Mohanlal), a paraplegic. Mathews takes an understanding view of Gracy's mental turmoil & he himself becomes friends with Menon, but their kids don't take too kindly to the new-found bonds.

Club dancer turned B-list actress Meera (Shweta Menon), after getting jilted by her lover & having a miscarriage after an attempted suicide, gets a new lease of life when cabbie Shyam (Biju Menon) comes into her life, but disaster strikes soon after in the form of a road accident which leaves Shyam brain dead. Hearing the news about a similar incident which happened in Israel, Meera decides to get Shyam's sperm surgically extracted & have a baby in vitro, which sparks a national debate.

The real-life incident of an Indian migrant worker, Najeeb Muhammad, who goes to Saudi Arabia to earn money. However, in a twist of fate, he finds himself living a slave-like existence, herding goats in the middle of the desert. (imdb)
