Ellen Bradford comes to the south sea island of Tonga to marry her fiancée and finds out he is a drunk. She also finds out that she is the only white woman on the island and, as such, has three men taking a deep interest in her. Josie (Sally O'Neill), a New York showgirl with a mind of her own and a heart of gold, finds herself stranded on the island of Fiji. While seeking a way home she is befriended by a local man (legendary Olympic swimmer Duke Kahanamoku) who gets her a job working as a barmaid at "The Bamboo Bar". There she meets an alcoholic World War I veteran (Reginald Sharland) who is haunted by his wartime experiences and has an irrational fear of fire.

The married dance team of Fleurette and Benny haven't been doing great, but they haven't been doing poorly either. Mediocrity is OK with Benny as long as he has Fleurette, but Fleurette longs for the big time. The owner of a prominent nightclub notices their act and offers them a whopping 800 dollars a week to headline. (imdb)
