Fimfárum Jana Wericha is divided into five independent stories, each of which is derived from a Czech folktale.

Czech animators Aurel Klimt, Vlasta Pospísilová, Jan Balej, and Bretislav Pojar -- all giants of the Czech puppet film movement -- each helm one segment of the anthology film Fimfarum 2. A sequel to the original Fimfarum, this feature provides four additional animated episodes adapted from the short stories of Czech fantasist writer Jan Werich, in the same vein as the earlier film.

Life is not easy for Laika, a dog on the outskirts of a big city. She is caught and retrained to become a pioneer in astronautics. Soon after her lift-off into space, a number of animals follow that are hurriedly launched from Houston and Baikonur. The animals manage to colonize a faraway planet. After a short period of harmonious, undisturbed co-existence with indigenous life forms, however, first human cosmonaut runs ashore on their planet, and they are suddenly in jeopardy. (imdb)
