Monichan (Mammootty) is a hardworking farmer who leads a happy life in a village in the hills of Idukki along with wife Susamma and their two smart daughters. Monichan decides to admit his daughters in a convent school in the nearby town to give them better education. In the town, he meets Soman Pillai (Jagathy Sreekumar) who makes him a partner in all his illegal activities. But soon a heart-breaking catastrophe happens in Monichan's life which makes him realize his mistakes.

Ajith Thomas (Dileep), a TV reporter, when he finds the dead body of a man whom he happened to capture on camera a few days ago, broadcasts the image of the woman who was on camera with him, thus finding Krishna Priya (Meera Jasmine), his widow. Soon, Ajith finds that Krishna Priya is being hunted by a group of criminals running a huge sex racket, & that Krishna Priya's dead husband Hari Kumar (Indrajith), was also part of it. Karthiyayini (Sharbani Mukherji), born into an aristocratic Hindu Menon family, gets attracted to Maammootty (Prakash Bare), a Muslim merchant & elopes with him. Although she changes her faith to Islam & her name to Suhara, the discovery of an idol in her house premises rekindles her Hindu roots, & she sets up a temple in her house courtyard. This act angers the local Hindu & Muslim communities, resulting in severe repercussions for Karthiyayini & her husband.

Bhavana loses her mental stability & starts accusing Manoj of having affairs with other women. She invents her own imaginary friend, Raj Menon (Narain), & communicates with him, but her letters & phone calls to Raj end up going to Rajan (Kalabhavan Shajohn), a criminal & a client of Manoj's. As Manoj tries to cure Bhavana, a besotted Rajan comes looking for her.

Their master plan soon fails as Prem Kumar's alcoholism exacerbates & D.P's patience runs out.

Ex-Police Commissioner Shazia Akbar (Meera Jasmine) investigates the serial rapes & killings of young girls & zeros in on a suspect, Victor Dhanaraj (Prashant Narayanan), but has to let him go due to lack of evidence. Victor privately confesses to Shazia about killing a young girl, Angel (Ritika Badiani), but makes Angel's dad-like friend Davis (Anoop Menon) believe that it was Davis's own son John (Shebin Benson) who did it.
