A diffident 15-year-old girl from the countryside moves with her family to a high-rise apartment in Warsaw. As she tries to adjust to city life, she's befriended first by a wild, gypsy-like classmate, and then by the teenage daughter of entrepreneurial Poles.

The Director, Marek Koterski, says that this is the key to the film. He asks us to think about how we behave when we are madly in love, especially as adults when we have families of our own.

When Marek gets a job, which is the job of a second deputy minister, his life has changed dramatically.
