In his youth, Sikander Malik lived a middle-class lifestyle in Bombay with his parents, who ran a musical band and a recording studio. One day the studio caught fire from a short-circuiting soundboard, instantly killing his parents. Sikander survived, recuperated and shortly thereafter found he has gained the ability to read people's minds whenever he comes in physical contact with them.

Advocate Kabir practices law is in India, but is not very successful, so he takes to drinking liquor in a big way.
