Raphaël loses his last coin, then goes to the river to drown himself. On the way he enters an unusual shop and finds it filled with curiosities. The shopkeeper leads him to a skin hanging on the wall. It promises to fulfill any wish of its owner, shrinking each time. He is willing to let Raphaël take it but urges him not to accept the offer.
