You know what's really funny? The "writer/director" of Murder Set Pieces once posted on a forum where I was a moderator, starting a topic about "goriest films ever", claiming his was the number one best, and took its inspiration from "Maniac". (Incidentally, when I mentioned how much I enjoyed "The Untold Story", he mocked that picture...for those of you who don't know obscure torture porn titles, this would be like Michael Bay talking shit about Christoper Nolan)

Anyways, the members of this forum all called him a fucking idiot, and that they didn't care whether he had some girl shitting herself while she was being tortured, which he would constantly describe with glee as the paragon of cinematic art. I think he was kind of shocked, since he expected everyone to be awed that a real writer/director was posting there, and continued to rant and rave that we didn't understand. Eventually, we just banned him.

A short while later, I learned that he basically did the same thing on the IMDB forums.

Tool would be an understatement, although it's a good example of how utterly deluded and arrogant even the shittiest of writers and directors are. It's like, the guy made a torture porn film. Great, awesome. But that's all it is, and a shitty knock-off of a schlocky horror film from the early 80s at that.

Instead, he thought it was something brilliant.
