Here is what I wrote on another forum;

"The only 2010 US film I am hyped for just dropped its trailer.

And, let's be honest folks; it fucking sucks. However, that is more to do with the awful music selection and painfully overdramatic, pretentious voice-over than anything else. I'm still looking forward to it (I have amazing faith in the Coen Brothers), although not quite as much."

Damn that looks pretty sweet, I'm gonna try to watch the original soon.

Not too excited after that trailer, the original film is only decent also but it is Coens and my favorite genre so I have faith that it will still be great.

I have decided not to watch the original before the remake hits. I'm not a fan of most John Wayne movies anyways, and want to go into the new one cold, so if it ends up being sensational, I'm even more mezmerized. Don't want to spoil the effect by knowing key plot points in advance.

It's usually not the first thing that grabs my attention, but the makeup looks outstanding. I'm pretty hyped for this.

True Grit is one of the very few John Wayne westerns I liked....I would normally piss all over the idea of a remake, but the cast and the Coens leave me with a spark of hope it will be good. The film will hinge on the casting and performance of the young girl, but I didn't recognize that actress from anything else.

According to the trailer, it's her first film.

I think that was a smart casting choice on the part of the Coens; as their recent "A Serious Man" proved, they are good at finding quality young actors, and better they take a chance on someone new and hopeful than the litany of crappy, "name" teen actresses out there right now. (I know, there are a few exceptions)

I just remembered something, though; "No Country for Old Men", a completely perfect film, and my 4th favorite of all time, had both an underwhelming AND misleading trailer. So maybe I shouldn't be too down on what I saw from "True Grit" ysterday. My hype has partially gone up again!

Looks awesome. Been looking forward to this, and the trailer looks interesting. Don't know why people are dissing it.
