Reminiscent of CAUSEWAY, as a portrait of two broken people attempting to connect to and heal each other. Flounders somewhat when it tries to adorn the narrative with too much excess baggage, with the awkward “meet cute” resolving itself uncomfortably, and overly complicating the confrontation scene between Chastain and Harper. While focussing on the clean lines of Chastain and Sarsgaard’s connection, it’s a charmer: both actors touch all the right notes as their relationship burgeons.

The two lead performances drive Memory and bring it the soul that it needs to succeed.

From one of the standout directors of his generation, an intriguing psychological drama about a woman's relationship with a man who personifies the forgetfulness she craves and cannot have. There is a lot of drama underlying, but it's all very realistic and so understated it works. Elsie Fisher is a shaky actor but her role is thankfully quite minor.

Sarsgaard killin’ it

This story of loneliness, trauma, and connection between two broken people is a moving character study that’s filled with empathy and a poignant, tender humanity.
