Another Douglas Sirk/Zarah Leander collaboration. This one was better then La Habanera. More songs suited to Leander's deepish voice and naturally Sirk makes sure she looks striking in every shot. Here she is a showgirl in England who gets sentenced for a forge check and sent to Australia. There she meets the man who really did the deed and a man who marries her so she can leave the prison. A fairly odd story to get into, but Sirk gets a decent atmosphere about it and it works.

The plot is rather silly and overly melodramatic, but Sirk just knows how to make this kind of material somehow work.
