Just like seeing a horrible accident happen right in front of you, it is not very easy to avert your eyes. In this case, the horrible accident seems well-meaning, but there's just too much drama crammed in it, from the stereotypically disabled thus helpless rape victim to the broken-up couple, and from the illegal abortions to wanting to kill your own daughter. The last scene is an oasis amidst the misery, but I have the sneaky suspicion it symbolizes the murderous dad saying goodbye to his kid.
