Jacob, a farmer, returns from the war to his wife Marie and begs the landlord baron for a plot of land to rent. The Baron grants the request, but only for a barren, rocky, useless acreage. This one was difficult to judge. First off, the title cards was in Russian so I couldn't understand a lot of the little things that was going on, but visually you understood most of it. And thats the strong side. This one had beautiful photography! A lot of wonderful images all the way. Sadly the story lacked the same magic and the movie never got very good. Would probable been a tiny bit better had I seen a English version, but it wouldn't have mattered that much. It's no classic.
