This Italian version is a classy picture, but I can't rate it higher as I've seen both Gloria Swanson (in the 1923 silent version) and Claudette Colbert (in the 1938 sound version) do more memorable performances as Zaza. The thing is that Isa Miranda does a more serious adaptation of the role, while the other two made theirs being over-the-top. In that sense Miranda's Zaza was less entertaining, but the one to go for if wanting the straight dramatic version of this tragic romance.
