Typical Bolshevik revolution stuff, but perhaps a little more intimate then most propaganda films. In between the politics Boris Chirkov's character Maksim got to show himself from a more human nature singing, flirting and just enjoying the simple things in life. Not all Soviet films in this period had time for that. But besides that positive thing, I felt it lacked something to really draw you in. Too light in handling the struggles of being a revolutionist.
