Yume no ginga

The black & white photography is the star here, indelible images evoking a hazy, dreamlike world. As for the story, it's not much but it's reasonably interesting and you want to see how things are going to turn out. The main problem is that Ishii loads the film with long pauses and nothing-much-happening scenes. They occasionally enhance the dreamlike feel of the pieces, or give you a few extra moments to drink in the pretty pictures, but on the whole don't add much and don't reveal anything.
