A sailor with a chin bigger than his hat has no right making fun of a guy's buckteeth and genetic predisposition to nearsightedness. However, I must admit, using the honorific 'Mister' before 'Jap' does quell some of the blatant racism (okay, no it doesn't). And to think, repeated showings of this cartoon in USO theaters and officer's clubs across the pacific rim helped turn the tide. God bless America!

You know, I wouldn't even mind these WWII propaganda films if they actually had some plot besides "Let's make fun of and beat the crap out of those stinkin' Japs". This one gets 5 points for Popeye and that's it.

The first cartoon from Famous Studios is pretty lame, considering the work of the Fleischer brothers which preceded it.

Wow, I thought making all the Japanese go to internment camps was bad. Do you think they had TV there and they also had to see this? 12 points for the historical value of propaganda. Also how does Popeye get off for making fun of anyone? A. His name is Popeye. B. He is a disgustingly shaped human being.

Racist but fun for a bit, then dwindles.

I think even during the war, people must have thought this was a lame, unfunny, racist cartoon.

Not very funny WW2-propaganda Popeye cartoon, mainly of interest because of the outrageously racist Japanese stereotypes therein
