Don't know that I'd call this a horror movie in the classic sense, as horrible as the events in it are. An interesting one for the "Women who walk with monsters" pile. Makes all its dirt, grime and gore look sumptuous, but the constant voice-overs don't necessarily do much. Bring on a full silent version of this.

In true folk horror stride, the witch(es) is hardly the source of fear - it’s the oppressiveness of patriarchy, of societal codes and whims, of general ignorance. It’s shot and acted with grace, and builds steadily to a place where a witch slitting the throat of a newborn makes you feel sadder for the witch. Its problems lie in its ponderous meandering, vapid sendoff, and a surprising lack of thematic delicacy. Society is introduced as a not-satire version of https://youtu.be/mWWAC5ZMKeM.

This movie makes the viewer work very hard to follow, and pays very little dividends for the investment. The main protagonist changes bodies and assumes different identities a-la Holy Motors or so, but then we're, say, in another character's flashback all of a sudden. It's a hassle to watch and like Holy Motors, seems to get stupidly affected and mawkish about things that don't really feel consequential in what's (in this case) ostensibly a gory folk horror movie.

There's something so impressionistic and dreamlike about this fairy tale/body horror hybrid that it's difficult to convey what watching it is like. It's shot in a deliberately claustrophobic Academy ratio almost constant POV style, and mostly narrated by Klimoska, who having been raised alone in a cave, has developed her own idiosyncratic, metaphor laden way of speaking.

Halfway though, I realized there probably wasn’t going to be much of a narrative arc to this, so I decided to snooze through the second half. My girlfriend seems to have liked it, passably, although I clearly missed something pretty gross.

I found myself checking out at times, the Malick-esque pacing and surrealism being too much. But this mysterious, enchanting film packed a punch every so often. It was a true one of a kind that grappled with some of humanity's biggest questions, from an alien's point of view.

More drama than horror but still a nice witches & feminism tale of ignorance, fear, jealousy, revenge, and redemption.

“You Won’t Be Alone” is a beautifully crafted film that encourages viewers to appreciate the beauty in their everyday lives. Despite some pacing issues and violent moments, the film's exploration of what makes us human and the importance of love make it a heartwarming and touching experience.

"A horror movie starring Noomi Rapace" except it isn't really a horror movie despite having the ingredients of one and it doesn't actually star Noomi Rapace (she's in it for about 15 minutes). It suffers from being too slow and wandering and from sticking too rigidly to a cyclical structure that deprives the narrative of any surprises or suspense. And frankly, the flm comes off as a little pretentious, like Goran Stolevski thinks he's making such profound observations but he really isn't.
