I don't want to see Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson in a comedy. They've been good in thrillers and horrors. Sorry but I never laughed in this movie. * Casting, Acting : 2 * Script : 1 * Directing, Aura : 2 * Ease of Viewing : 1 * Naked Eye : 1

Hilarius movie. It carries out the mission of entertainment. Owen Wilson is very funny in this movie and do what he knows to do best.

This movie took a beating in the press, but I guess that's why I liked it. Expectations were low. Also, I'm a big fan of Owen Wilson and enjoy his schtick. Instead of being an all out comedy, I think this movie has more heart. The Dupree character treads the line between being the lovable loser and the annoying pest, but I think they were able to keep him leaning towards the former. My only beefs: 1.) Some jokes and plotlines felt forced. 2.) Seth Rogen was underused. 3.) Matt Dillon is boring

Amiable comedy coasts on the good-will of the cast, which is enough to sustain it to the halfway mark; the laid-back pacing causes a serious drag in the second half, bringing the film to a stand-still when it should be picking up steam – because the “fire damage” sequence is a climactic topper that occurs fairly early, the film is left precious room to move beyond it. Dupree is almost too likable a character – he really needed to be more viciously passive aggressive for the comedy to take hold.

Genuinely terrible. Low expectations weren't close to met. Annoying characters reacting stupidly for no good reason. Deeply sexist, especially Seth Rogen's horrible character. A comedy with almost no laughs. The deification of Lance Armstrong hasn't dated well, but there was already enough smoke around him back then to make it a strange choice.

Something about Wilson is just so comfortable, so loose, that he can make the most pointless movie seem, by moments, as if it deserves to exist. But even the presence of the Butterscotch Stallion can't sweeten this bland compendium of rom-com clichés.

A personal favorite for some reason. I love the chemistry between Owen Wilson and Matt Dillon! Also, the Michael Douglas scenes are great. Some crazy and hilarious lines delivered by Wilson and Dillon too.

Textbook comedy for the 2000's. Dillon is not very funny, and due to the way he speaks, everything he says sounds kind of stupid.

It was alright. Owen Wilson is charismatic and, since I was in college at the time I saw it, recognizing situations that I was involved made it funny.

This surprised the hell out of me. I did not expect to like this, nor laugh much as I knew what I was going to get from Wilson going into this. Still, he really made the most of Dupree's character and Dillon was passable as the exasperated straightman.

An underated comedy about a lovable slacker friend. Owen Wilson is in a role perfect for displaying his lovable funny personality, and the supporting acting of Hudson and Dillon are perfect compliments.

I had a decent amount of fun with this movie the first time out. It's a rather weak script, but the cast elevates the material to watchable levels, because they're all better than this. Whenever I catch pieces of it on Movie Central though, I find it excruciatingly cliche. It probably could have been better with a hard R-rating, but as is it tries to push the envelope here and there while playing it safe enough for a PG-13. Yawn. Not as bad as its reputation, but not good either.

Had its moments. Seth Rogen steals the show as expected, and the ending "seven different kinds of smoke" chase scene was lots of fun. Other than that, there's not a whole lot of 'special' or 'new' going on here.

Great film? Hardly, but most important is you have a bunch of actors having lots of fun and inviting the audience to do the same. Will there be wanking gags? Yes. Will it be cheesy? Yes, sometimes. Will it be stupid? Of course! Will you be entertained? Definitly, except when you don't like Owen Wilson - or you are out of touch with your "-ness"!
