Wildly imaginative and hallicunatory. I even like the George Martin instrumental score. Some of the bits between songs drag a bit, especially towards the end, but oh what songs! Some of the absolute best Beatles tunes. "It's All Too Much" is my very favorite, and it comes at the emotional peak of the film. It blows me away.

A suprisingly good adventure, it's too bad the Beatles themselves couldn't have done the voices but the charming animation more than makes up for it. If you enjoyed Yellow Submarine, I highly suggest another animated film called "the Point".

Very mixed bag. Some of the songs are classics and others I couldn't remember ever hearing before in my life (and I have seen this movie before). The plot is a wet dream for hippies and a boring nightmare for everyone else. The animation, especially the weird happenings in the middle, is the best part, while the worst is listening to the Beatles make the world's lamest puns. Could we get this reissued with all the dialogue cut out, it might be a solid 80.

The music is obviously great and I can't resist a dumb pun. It's really just a load of nonsense though and I couldn't quite get with it for the entire running time.

Drags in places, and the humor is frequently grating, but the animation in many of the sequences is jaw-dropping (e.g. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds). Seeing the restoration in a theater probably didn't hurt.

Such a great cartoon. Show this to your kids! OR ELSE!
The Beatles just wanted this film to be over and done with because they couldn't be bothered making another film (but had to because of the contract they had) but when they saw the final product they loved it and you should too.

Its only flaw is a final third that doesn't live up to the first two thirds -- by the time we reach Pepperland, we've pretty much seen everything that YELLOW SUBMARINE has to show us. Which isn't to say that this isn't one of the best animated features ever -- wildly inventive and influential, an important part of my youth experience and a movie that will always rank among my highest favorites.

While this film might feel more like an extended music video at times, it's still an absolute delight. Everything here is just so charming: the enchanting animation, the lightning fast wit, the obvious love that the creators have for the Beatles and their music, and the endearing characters introduced beyond the band themselves.

What seems nonsensical is perfectly normal in Pepperland, and I think it conforms to its own presented logic rather well. How do you defeat a glove? Sing “All You Need Is Love”. Makes sense to me.…

An utter delight - mix of psychedelic imagery, "dad joke" puns and (of course) glorious Beatles music never puts a foot wrong, with the voice cast doing a more than passable impression of the real Fab Four. A rare capsule of its time that genuinely does feel of its time, while never feeling quaintly dated. Great fun.

I will admit, I was somewhat apprehensive about this film. But it was actually pretty great! The animation was really creative, with a lot of imagination and whimsy thrown in. And it had some genuinely funny lines, which were usually puns. And, of course, the music is fantastic. I do wish the actual Beatles had done the voices, but at least they appear very briefly at the end. I think some people might find it a bit too odd, but as long as you're willing, I say it's worth a watch.

This is like those acids trips I used to take when I was a kid watching Disney cartoons and The Simpsons. Features a lot of songs from The Beatles, obviously, which is a good thing. The animation is a tad tacky, but it showcases some very odd and very British psychedelic imagery. The fab four make for an unintentionally engaging hero group, their half-assed dialogue making them sound hilariously colloquial. Too bad this occasionally delves into silliness and filling banter.

I wonder if those involved with this were on drugs at the time. It's decent and the fun is in just how bonkers it is. But it's based on easily their worst album and doesn't even have the real Beatles' voices.

Oh, how I wish I liked this movie more. The visual style is wonderful, even if some of the surreal flourishes seem more glib than truly creative. And I respect the shear number of puns crammed into the dialogue, even if many of them fall flat. Sure, the story is supposed to be secondary here, but it comes off as a cynical vanity project that it makes it hard to enjoy the movie at all.

Every stereotype starts somewhere, and Yellow Submarine marks the beginning of stereotypical trippy animation. Plot is a simple hippies vs. squares story with a hefty amount of weirdness. It's really fun to watch it on psychedelics. This film made me fall in love with Ringo Starr. I wish there was more songs - psychedelic era Beatles are godly.
