One of the hardest things to take was Robert Montgomery trying to do the Irish accent again like he did in Night Must Fall (1937), but the result is mostly painful. There are plenty of good actors here, but no one really steps up once Montgomery fails. Virginia Bruce was the easiest on the eyes. Lewis Stone did a respectable job. And Charles Coburn was at least a colorful person. But one couldn't help but feel something was missing here for this to become anything more then just watchable.
