Kind of like the Saturday-morning cartoon version of a chambara, with its basic plot and lines, light humor and "funny" sidekicks. The score and the action choreography seem dated (even for the release year). It's quickly paced and doesn't overstay its welcome though.

This is a great fast paced adventure story filled with fighting, intrigue, comedy, romance, ninja and fun characters. The fighting both the sword fights as well as the martial arts was fun and well done. The story also featured a lot of humor which I found to work perfectly to light the mood after some dramatic or action scenes. All the cast members did a good job with Jûshirô Konoe & the actress who played the princess being the standouts.
