Took everything the second movie had established and crapped all over it. The thing was just a revolving-door of one-dimensional characters, and all the subtlety of the last one had vanished. The point at which the movie REALLY stopped making sense was when Magneto air-lifted the bridge to Alcatraz, and conveniently made sure to extend it to the mainland as well. You know, in case the army wanted to mount a counterattack and surround him. But hey, they killed James Marsden, so that's worth a 40!

Not as bad as I expected, but far from the brilliant X2. I don't think the problems are really Ratner's fault: the action sequences look fine, direction was adequate. The acting, too, is stellar, especially from McKellan. The fault is the writing: interesting and complex characters like Pyro are reduced to caracitures; some events happen for no particular reason, while others are left woefully underdeveloped; painful dialogue and unnecessary plot devices (e.g Mutant Class system), etc.

By far the worst. It was definitely the best looking film, and the money and SFX are far and above what we saw in the first one. The problem is (and I say this as someone who only partially enjoyed the first one) the script is non-existent, it makes no sense and there is no character development. I've sat here and mulled it over for a few hours and yes, a character literally flew by on screen for no reason. I like Ben Foster, but it's like they pasted him in just to get another mutant in.

I'm so bummed that I didn't find this movie on par with the first two. I thought the story lines were slightly lacking, and was not satisfied with the end. There were plots and characters that seemed to be in the movie for reasons that never got developed and the plots that were developed left me either confused or questioning if there were holes. Oh well, we can hope for another, better, one.

Ok finale (?) for the x-men series. Due to the troubled production history, it was a wonder it wasn't a bunch of stock footage put together. Nonetheless, Ratner puts together some bravura action scenes surrounded by an extremely boring plot involving a possible mutant cure. It's a shame that Singer decided to leave this franchise...He would've had a field day with that plot. Unfortunately, Ratner drops the ball most times and only shines during those aforementioned action scenes.

When I was in high school - high school, mind you - there was a moment I stood up in the middle of the theater in a "fuck you" posture and had to stumble over a couple of Professor X and Logan cosplays with their fake wheelchairs and toy claws in righteous indignation as I left the theater. I like to say I grew up since then, but this movie's still shit.

After Bryan Singer's departure, this X-men film has the reputation of being the worst of the original three. It has well earned that reputation, however the film is more a disappointment than it is a bad movie. The direction lacks subtly with a script that lacked much depth, literally jumping the Golden Gate Bridge in the last 30 minutes. All that, on top of being a let down as a sequel to one of the best comic book movies yet. The movie feels more hollow than anything

"The Last Stand" punctuates some of the best and some of the worst traits of the X-Men films. The social commentary and the moral dilemmas (being afraid of anything different, being tempted to conform in order to belong and how someone can hijack your vulnerabilities or fears for their own interests) are at the forefront of the film's plot. This more intelligent side of the franchise is contrasted by the amount of corny or silly dialogues. In any case, the solid action is the film's safety net.

X3 is definitely the worst film in the series. Brett Ratner doesn't have any understanding of the characters or material that Bryan Singer did. The series has lost the heart, plot direction and character development that first two films so brilliantly balanced. Instead more explosions and less convincing set pieces are added. With the result being a very dull third act. Too many original characters are killed off too soon and new additions are poorly introduced. An awful and forgettable sequel.

Definitely not the most disappointing movie in the whole franchise, but X-Men: The Last Stand doesn't try to tell a story worth telling. and it disposes of it's good characters to replace them with brown paper-bag mutants who aren't worth caring about. Story drags it down in some spots, even if it does end what is a good trilogy overall. Should have been way better. Post credit scene is hard to understand if you don't follow the comics too. Good acting and effects help make it better I guess.

Last stand? More like "can't stand." Hack-a-licious director Brett Ratner tarnishes the legacy of Bryan Singer's above-average superhero series with this lazy, unimaginative bore. Forget all the subtlety and coolness from the first two X-Men movies, because Ratner's replaced them with cheap-looking FX, incoherent storytelling, and barely disguised misogyny.

The third installment of the X-Men series fails because they try too hard to introduce us to a lot of characters that fanboys and fangirls were salivating for. You can please some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, but when you simply try to please every basement dweller on Earth all the time, you end up shooting yourself in the foot and letting people who enjoy movies down immensely.

A disappointing finale; seemed to get away from the character-driven aspects of the first two films and ended up being a (generally lackluster) typical "action flick." Perhaps the change in director was at fault. In any event, it was interesting to see the conclusion but I wish it had been better!

The action is so heart-poundingly intense that it feels like exercise. That's a plus, but something else was missing. It needed more time to develop some bits that could have made it much deeper and more captivating. It had chances, but they fell flat. I blame Brett Ratner, who simply isn't Brian Singer, but overall, it was a fine and fun trilogy ender. Really good!

I'm not a Brett Ratner fan, but he manages an average job on the third installment of the X-Men series. Still has excellent casting, although I'm not sure why Nightcrawler is missing. Good story. Certainly worth watching if you enjoyed the first two.

This movie could have used another good 10-20 minutes, just to let us see how the characters react to the events unfolding.

Decent action movie, horrible X-Men movie. Sort of directionless in the first half. Kelsey Grammer delivers, but everything else was a joke. The end basically defeats the entire purpose of the plot, glaring flaws are noticeable (the immediate change from daytime to nightfall during the climax), and about a dozen things done purely for shock value. Comic fans will be pissed.

Brett Ratner isn't up to par with Bryan Singer in terms of the last X-film, but "X3" is a satisfying action-yarn that exists purely as popcorn entertainment with a handful of goofy lines, great action sequences, and a breakneck pace. I don't understand all the hate for this one. It introduces some stupid characters, barely scratches the surface of others and then kills off some favorites, but overall, it's an entertaining action ride with a plot that I liked. I think it's in tune with "X1".

Good action but it's really clear they switched writers. It's quite distracting to see established characters break character. On a personal note I was really disappointed that Ben Foster, Angel, didn't get more screen time because he's a great actor. With all that said, the action is still very cool and entertaining it's just disappointing that the story isn't up to par with the first two.

Quite possibly the best of the serries, this movie explores the depth of what it is to be exceptional and associated difficulty. Just like the orriginal works of Stan Lee this movie (though it doesn't hold the story-line quite faithfully) brings out his true style. Being different or conforming has little to do with the quality of your character, and even the best of us have our weaknesses.

Still has some campy dialogue and VFX but it successfully amps up the central tension of the series with the controversial mutant cure (how is their identity tied up in their abilities?) that’s addressed with nuance in every angle of the script (mutants vs. humans, vs. each other, and as individuals). Jean’s Phoenix rising adds another interesting debate to the mix (control and pacify or set free and risk destruction?) that comes to a powerful climax in the action-packed last stand in San Fran.

There are some potentially compelling ideas in this movie, which are immediately shattered when Fox hired known hack and all around terrible person Brett Ratner to direct this. What results is a mess of plotholes, paper-thin characters, painful over-acting by good actors, and incredibly cheesy one-liners. The whole thing is, for lack of a better word, very stupid.

There are lots of reasons that this entry killed the series. I think the movie would have been better if it picked a main theme, maybe anyhow. As it is the story feels super messy, old characters are treated pretty roughly, new characters don't feel developed very well. It just feels like a big mess at the end of it all. There are some fun moments, but the movie is a big drop from the first two.

The first movie was great and the second movie was even better than the first. The series seemed to be moving in the right direction but the third movie just didn't give me a satisfying end to the X-Men series. There were some iconic additions to the cast Kelsey Grammer as Beast and Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut were cool picks. They ended up killing off many characters in this film and some of those deaths were impactful but others felt like nothing. Cyclops' death was a blip unlike Prof. X's.

I think seeing Dark Phoenix before this (minus the little bits I saw as a kid) really helped me appreciate it more. Just like Phoenix, the middle section drags...a lot. Unlike Phoenix, the final act is actually really enjoyable, probably one of the most enjoyable of the series. The extra screen time we get from Bobby and Erik is great as well. It does have its problems though. Scott is sidelined even more than in X2, and the lack of Nightcrawler is pretty unfortunate.

Not as good as the first two, and definitely not as clean a sequel as X2. If you watched the first two movies too long before this one, it is way too easy to get lost here. It's not a terrible movie by any means, but it's a step down from the first two. One of the great things about the original two was that the characters were balanced. Here, you've got one mutant who breaks that balance and it takes a lot away from the cleverness of the writing

The final installment in the original trilogy features remarkably improved effects and a satisfying conclusion to most character arcs. Kelsey Grammar plays a great Hank McCoy as well. However, there are a few flaws. Most notably the underdeveloped love story between Jean Grey and Logan, which the Climax of the film relies on very heavily.

Overblown, underbaked, and altogether too mean-spirited for its own good, X-Men: The Last Stand does poorly by nearly all of its characters. The only standout here is Kelsey Grammer's Beast, who lit up the scene whenever he was in it. The fact that it ends the way that it does -- no spoilers! -- is altogether fitting for this insulting ending to a trilogy. It's been forgotten by superhero cinema-goers in the years since, and for good reason.

This has too many plots, subplots, minor characters, and themes despite the fact that a feature film doesn't have the time to do them all justice.

I've watched this because the voices in my head told me to. After the credits rolled all I could hear was a receding swearing, slam of the door and then nothing. I think somebody asked the director how clichéd could a picture be, and he did take it for a challenge. It has Teamwork, Sacrifice, and a Cliffhanger ending one of which is enough to decently ruin any movie, but this is not just any movie, this is x people 3. It is three times as x as any other x people movie including the XXX genre.

Rewatch. At least > Dark Phoenix. Starts off interesting: kid cutting off wings; more Picard/Gandalf backstory; interesting "cure" plot. Ultimately there's too much going on with new characters I don't care much about but not enough of characters I do care for (and someone told Berry to stop wearing low cut tops). Janssen didn't have the acting chops to make a convincing villain. Was Magneto always so OP that he can move a bridge? Fav scenes: Wolverine forest fight; melting skin toward Grey.

The movie catches a lot of flack for being a step down from the first two, which it is. It also catches flack for being too different from the comic stories its based on, which is also true. All that in consideration The Last Stand still works as a power filled X-Men action fest with some decent performances and worthwhile emotion moments to spare. Assuming one can accept the total mistreatment of the Dark Phoenix character.

While I don't think it's as bad as everyone says, Ratner really missed with this one. The performances are great as usual, and you know what you're getting with the characters. However, the movie feels cluttered and oddly paced for it's runtime. The whole movie really relies on build up for there big stand against there decision on the "cure" and if really never pays off, practically wasting the majority of the movie, Ratner was lost. Unfortunately, this ending isn't the one X-Men fans deserve.

A compromise of the methodical majesty of Part 1 and the helter skelter of Part 2, this installment has some fine, exciting action scenes, reestablishes the entertaining repartee and relationships between its characters, and gives McKellen another shot at some fun scenery chewing. Allusions to the political climate of the mid-aughts are a little too ham-fisted at times, and the introduction of new characters Grammer, Page, Jones and Foster further clutter an already too busy landscape.

The Last Stand is less concerned with the interpersonal and social implications of this previously established universe and more pre-occupied with ho-hum action setups. Potentially consequential events don't receive enough time to breathe, it all just kind of happens. TLS was pretty cynical film-making on display.

Maybe not QUITE as bad as its reputation suggests, but it's definitely not good. When you think of what *could* have been in this movie, what we got - despite a strong concept and some good acting - was really quite disappointing. Way too many characters end up feeling totally inconsequential, and it's obvious that some of the actors had scheduling conflicts. Shame, but at least the series would recover eventually.

even though i feel they arent true to certain characters, even based on the previous 2 movies, i still allow it as THIS movie's characters lol. especially need to do that to like magneto more here. i love the juggernaut bitch. they do cyclops dirty lol. i'll always love the jean xavier magneto stuff. phoenix coulda used a bit more set up and being done better. i'd mix this and the 2019 one at least lol. cool cure mutant/plot. use phoenix weird at the end. kindajustlivedoffpreviousromancesetup

This is the movie equivalent of a very drunk bull in a shop full of antique Meissen china. From Storm (now with Goofy's spinning attack from Kingdom Hearts!) being an insensitive jerk in the face of Rogue's dilemma and right up to Magneto ditching Mystique rather than trying to get her powers back using, I dunno, maybe the goddamn machine from the first movie! Also, why the hell is he surprised that there are guards with plastic guns at the place they have threatened to attack?

The first movie introduced the story and characters, the second movie made it progress and gave the characters some depth, then this movie destroys it all by introducing even more unnecessary characters and plotlines. And, despite all this mess crammed into a rather short movie, they make everything focus around wolverine. Yeah, sure, he's cool, but come on.

There are good ideas here, but it's just so lazy. Lots of decent setups with no real payoff, dialog that is functional but doesn't really do much other than explain or give lines for a trailer, subplots that don't quite go anywhere. I mean, you've got wing guy, who shows up I think three times and does nothing of consequence, as though they couldn't be bothered to give him a story but also had a wing costume so might as well throw him in there.

This review goes for all three films in the trilogy, since I felt they were all the same in quality. They check off all the requirements for a summer action film, and with Magneto, add a more complex villain than most, but really nothing else. Above average superhero fare.
