Bad. Bad, bad, bad. So awful, in fact, that Ratner's third film seems almost accomplished. This manages to do absolutely nothing interesting with an incredibly cool character. And worse: it's no fun, with mostly bland performances and its ridiculously over-the-top action. Avoid.

One of the most retarded and mindless action romps I've ever seen. Why was this made? It's totally unnecessary, only detracts from the X-Men franchise, and has virtually no themes of interest. Bar the title sequence and the pretty ok ending this is just Jackman running around making an angry face for 2 hours and having some fights. If that's your thing, go for it, but if you want a well-crafted action film with engaging characters and non-obvious CGI, seriously: please give this one a miss.

The action wasn't that great, the effects weren't that great. They threw in a bunch of mutants just to have them in there. A bunch of it was repetitive. Just Wolverine and Sabretooth stabbing each other a bunch, yelling, and healing. It's amazing that they took three of the most popular comic characters today (Wolverine, Deadpool and Gambit) and made the audience not care about them at all. An easily forgettable movie.

Wolverine is a bloated film with too many characters and dosen't spend enough time on Wolverine himself. With its forgettable and brainless plot, it's not a movie that leaves you satisfied which is quite a shame when you consider its potential. Nothing in Wolverine stands out as memorable. In terms of tone and content, Wolverine is a close match to Daredevil and Ghost Rider. Wolverine was made by people more interested in money than telling a coherent story so the movie suffers for it.

A really, really disappointing prequel to the X-Men trilogy. The reason X-Men was so good was because it delt with mutants in a realistic fashion. As in "if people had these powers how would they interact with the real world?" X-Men Origins: Wolverine is simply a over-the-top action film. Full of cliches and obviously cut down dialog sequences and conflicts that are flatly absurd. Hugh Jackman is good as Wolverine, and Ryan Reynolds was a great choice for Deadpool but man did they ruin that.

How can you mess up great characters like Deadpool, Gambit and dare I say even Wolverine? The sinister anti-hero with the cloudy past is reduced to a poster boy for steriod consumption and comic (or what non-comic readers think of as comic) clichés. Liev Schreiber pleasantly surprises as a finally solid sabretooth, but this movie should have received a mercy kill after the first 20 minutes. Thanks a lot marvel for selling out yet again.

They lost me early on when "Deadpool" was deflecting bullets from multiple machine guns just by twirling his swords around. I'm all for suspending disbelief--it's a movie about mutants after all--but there are a number of silly moments and it's just a generally stupid movie. I like Jackman as Wolverine, but the rest of the cast are unappealing, the fights suck, the special effects are often terrible (a driving scene that looks like rear-projection), the dialogue is goofy, oops, out of room...

So, confession time you guys, I watched an illegal copy of this. It turned out to be a sort of pre-release version, where the CGI effects weren't finished in the last scene. So you'd have Wolverine dart around in a wireframe landscape, sort of like the Star Trek holodeck, when it's not running a program. One would think that this would teach me a lesson, but ironically it is the only thing I remember from it. Danny Huston was in this?!

There are one or two entertaining moments here, but they're few and far between. Mostly this film bores and disappoints in equal measure. The bland story & script that excludes or needlessly amends the best sections of the comic book history of Wolverine means you spend most of this film lamenting what a missed oppitunity it clearly is. On top of that the casting is frankly awful, the performances poor, & much of the CGI woeful, which is amazing considering the budget. A mess.

As a mindless, killer superhero action spectacle, this is quite a hoot. As an actual film with some positive aspects, this is really quite retarded. They completely edited Deadpool and Gambit to soft, whiny but also moronic people that we can only sigh at rather than sympathize and cheer on. They also cram in a majority of our favorites in here, but they also end up being dry and tedious. Pathetic performances too, with the exception of Sabretooth. Thanks for messing up again Fox.

Even though I haven't read the comics, I can tell that the makers of this have crammed together as many strands from the original comic's histories as possible and strung them together on the vaguest and thinnest of plot strands, the results of which was going to be a failure, and with its serious tone never having a sense of messy silliness to it. No one would get a lot from this, X-Men comic fans or not.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is poorly written, even for a comicbook-based-character. Jackman is the high-light but this lacked a lot of good characters. Not just that, but there are some crappy visual effects for the most part. Gambit was good (with the screen time he actually got), and Schreiber is an awesome Sabertooth. Most of the other characters (like Wade Wilson) don't get their screen time they deserved either.

They knew which characters to use, but not how to use them. Gambit's role was terribly underplayed, and Deadpool was just... The less said about the rape of Deadpool, the better. Character misuse aside, the plot is rehashed from better films, and the action scenes are mildly creative at best, terrible at worst. It mostly stands out because of some of its hilariously bad CGI, ridiculous plot and idiotic characters. Starts out as an origin story for Wolverine based on the rather underwhelming comic but at some point it shifts to being a prequel for the trilogy. Basically it knows where it begins and it knows where it has to end, but the result is much as if someone attempted to seriously write out what comes after stealing everybody's underpants but before profit. Far too many clichés, to little humour, uninspired casting and Reynolds is not Deadpool and never will be.

There's absolutely no sense of continuity and with backstory and certain characters this prequel undoes so much that X-Men & X2 fleshed out. There's so many horrible interpretations of characters. An interesting addition to the movie version of the X-Men history, but it doesn't stand well on it's own. There's quite a bit of variance from the comics, which I suppose is to be expected, but there are also some continuity issues with the other movies as like a standing Xavier and a teen age Snow Queen in the 70s (she was an adult in the 60s in First Class). Worth watching, so long as you know it doesn't make any sense even within the X-Men universe.

If this had been R-rated, it would have been much better. The exciting thing about Wolverine is his ability to slice and dice anything and anyone, and this film doesn't even show the blood from his claws coming out. Schreiber makes a fun and convincingly bloodthirsty bad guy, and the film would be much weaker without him and Jackman--both good actors there, but the story is weak, and the film doesn't take the time to establish things before it tries to be dramatic about them.

Wolverine has always been a 1-dimensional character (that dimension? Badass!) that works best when given different personality types to bounce off of. Not so here, where almost every character comes from the "Let God sort 'em out" School of KickAssery. The opening scene and credits montage do well to establish the unique brother dynamic that comes to a head with Jimmy’s departure from the squad, but it disappears afterwards as they go their separate ways. The last act has a good twist but it makes the stakes for the final battle unclear, and the confusing team-up with Gambit and Victor (we’ve hated him the whole movie; it “doesn’t change things between us”) make the whole thing almost laughable. Bad VFX throughout doesn’t help matters.

Why couldn't the montage through time have been the whole movie?

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is mediocre at best. The only thing that it has going for it are some cool actions scenes and cameos by a bunch of minor X-Men/Marvel characters. I am not the biggest Marvel fanboy but there seemed to be some points that didn't make sense to me. Did Deadpool actually have sword hands? I don't know but since that movie came out a few years after this and he didn't in that movie it just seems like a plot hole. It's fun at times but I don't think I'd watch it again.

I mean…I enjoyed it in the theatre and that feels like regrettable sex. But here we are, all cigarette butts, wine stains and broken bra straps.
