I can already envision the sequel, where an obnoxiously cocky music teacher, who is also a brilliant musician, comes between Binoche and Owen, but their bond prevails in the end, albeit encapsulating the message that music is equally as valuable as text and images.

Nice verbal chat between Clive and Juliette. But she coped better her part since Clive's mostly a cliche with stubble, spectacles and a heavy drinking problem. Clive acted well but I did not like the way they build his character. Like Stewball said, around 2/3 of the movie they lost the greatness.

Starts off with a great premise and excellent dialogue throughout, but the story falters 2/3rds of the way through with the art vs. words contention going completely one sided given the exemplars. The theme seemed interesting and inspirational, but couldn't have been a more hollow spin-off with dead poet society influences and a lame romantic story lacking all passion. It seems as if they had forgotten to tell a story while spreading some artsy facts on the screen. Bluntly disappointing if you ask me.

Clive Owen is good in this unexpected romantic comedy. The words and the pictures are inspiring. The story is only almost inspiring, although it tries very hard. There is a sub-story regarding two students which disrupted the movie, but was never satisfactorily resolved. It should have either been better developed or left out entirely.
