I can see why so many people like this movie. I was bullied a little bit in elementary school and ignored through Middle School, so I had a lot of empathy for Auggie, and I felt for the whole family as well. I understood the position and actions of his sister, and I thought all of the performances were very realistic, which I wasn't expecting, especially from the excellent younger cast. I would say this is the perfect movie to take the whole family to. Great work from everybody on board.

I found this movie to be quite enjoyable. It had a bit of humor and a bit of heart. If I were to rate on enjoyability alone, I'd probably rate the movie higher. However, the movie was pretty formulaic and didn't take any risks, which I think a movie like this should do, especially considering the all-star cast. Very predictable ending so I took some points off for that.

cheese saved by powerful performances, and i mean that earnestly. braga, the little kid who plays jack will, and roberts/wilson duo will distract enough from the at-times silly dialogue and stale plotlines. some sequences really work. some really don't. my little brother asked, "is this canon?" when chewie came up, lol.

A nice little drama with a poignant (if clichéd) message about family and acceptance. The glurge is thankfully offset by earnest and generally good performances. Tremblay continues to showcase how he's a gigantic talent in a (for now, anyway) very small package.

It upset me when he cut off his Padawan braid. Tremblay is, as he usually is, pretty damn great. This is likely the least-punchable Wilson has ever been. The sister was excellent, and Roberts has a nice arc, too. If I have a major criticism, I guess it's that every conflict wraps up without much conflict at all. If anything, everyone in this movie is too... balanced. That sounds weird, but things end VERY conveniently. You're allowed to do dirty conflict in kids movies. Love the narrative style.

It's rare that performances are great despite the dialogue but this film manages it. The film plays to your emotions and it does have good intentions, but feels very heavy-handed at times. My biggest gripe is that it seems to waste an opportunity to do something unique. The first act of the film has a very interesting way to tell the story but the rest of the film fall back into the comforts of a traditional method, much to its detriment.

A decent movie done with a used concept. It plays hard to the heartstrings, invested in a well placed bet that you're not cold enough to not care about Auggie and his family. But it finds a great strength in developing other characters around him so that no one seems flat. The whole deformed kid gaining acceptance has been done before, only Jason got revenge and hacked everyone to bits. Yeah, you thought I was referring to "Mask," but I sure turned that around.

*Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson earnestly pour their hearts into this poignant, realistic story about a young son who is different. It stitches together a heartfelt world populated with loving parents, admirable teachers, and kids who believably struggle with who they are and what they need. (pluggedin)

So heartfelt and wonderful. Tremblay was amazing and it was great seeing Roberts on the big screen again. I loved all the little stories in the story. "We can't change the way we look - but we can change how we see things". *Very good

This is an educating as well as thoroughly entertaining movie that is a must-watch for both adults and kids. Walking into the theatre you would figure that the movie is all about the kid's struggle but it covers his sister and friends too suggesting that everyone has their own set of problems. The underlying theme of the movie is to set aside prejudices (especially looks and colour) and accept human beings for what really makes them human.

This was pretty much what I expected - a heartwarming family movie. It's definitely close to saccharine, but still sincere enough to be very watchable. I think it's a good movie for families to watch, really. Some of the dialogue wasn't the best, but the performances were pretty good. I do think Jacob Tremblay struggled to come through the make-up sometimes though. Yeah, it was nice. That's all.

A heart warming, well crafted story about a challenging subject. Julia Roberts brings her incredible magic to the role as the mother, and much to my surprise Owen Wilson did not stink the place up but instead gave a better than adequate performance as the father. Jacob Tremblay was amazing. All of the supporting cast were also good. An emotional, sensitive, inspiring story that is well made and worth watching.

Solid family drama with a focus on a young grade-schooler. Enjoyable. It was impressive how much they crammed into the running time, as it felt like I was watching multiple episodes of a great new TV show. It should be decreed that Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts must get married in real life.

Saccharine if a movie ever was. However, the script does a good job navigating the state of being a human being from different points of view. A film less about inclusion than about commonality and empathy.

A movie like this is built to manipulate, but unlike an egregious example of that in something like the Judge, this works. It got to me. It's a positive message that has some drama but doesn't lose focus on its message of kindness... movies like this need to exist. There are some hokey parts--the flashback with grandma is astonishingly bad--but the movie is effective with good performances and a little more depth than one might expect since it digs a little deeper into the lives these people.

I feel like adults will feel unsatisfied with the lack of cohesive depth. This movie reminded me of the discontented feeling I had when watching "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" ... and then I realized it had the same director/writer. Stephen Chbosky: please just stick to writing. :)

I can relate to the story of Wonder in quite a few ways and that really helped maintain my interest in the film. The film's subject matter is as important today as it has ever been. Is it predictable? Yes, but I can argue that it's got enough drama and emotional highs to make this a recommended viewing for any family. 4 STARS

The entire cast is great, especially the children who manage to deliver surprisingly natural performances. The structure of the film is particularly well-crafted in terms of switching through different characters' perspectives. In doing so, the film encourages the audience to form their opinions and correct those assumptions, in keeping with the themes of tolerance and accepting. The film isn't too deep, and more idealistic in its approach to human behaviour, ensuring a feel-good, warm film.

I WONDER why this movie is so popular. My path through life has been atypical but I found this to be a puff piece of disability pawn with ties to pop psych. Any disability makes life hard but especially those that AREN'T seen. This is a kids movie with little to offer a more mature audience. I hope my 7 year old could appreciate it, because I sure dont (rating is mostly for watchability not for content)

I wanted to like this movie a lot more. The pieces were there, but it wasn't quite all put together. It's a sweet story of perseverance and empathy, but there were some weird elements. The side plot of the sister's friend which didn't really fit in, the grandma flashback, and the cartoonish mean kid.
