Won in a Closet

An early directing credit for Mabel Normand in a comedic take on the frantic ride-to-the-rescue genre she knew so well. The first half's not quite as together, though that meeting with Her Ideal with the little split screen by the tree and all is cute. But it's once the promised cupboard comes into play that the goofy energy really pays off.

Lively but lightweight slapstick, mostly remarkable for the fact that the damage to the only surviving copy turns it into Lovecraftian horror at a couple of points.
