Keeping with a highly Celtic identity, right on down to the animation, it's clear that Moore has carved out a niche that remains fresh and desirable even three movies in. I'm a fan of seeing unfamiliar mythologies adapted to film, and "Wolfwalkers" delivers.

A sublime piece of animated filmmaking prowess. The characters' arcs, desires, fears, stakes - reveal and release with precision, and the buoyant animation rises to meet the themes, which are richer and full of more universal truth than they first appear. Wolfwalkers weaves myth and fantasy irrevocably into both shared and personal experience, the aim of all great fable storytelling. And you want to rewatch it the moment it ends.

The animation is terrific, stunningly beautiful, and the emotional beats are nearly flawless. Mebh and Robyn are delightful leads, the storyline familiar but creatively constructed and affectingly realized. You really can't say too much about the visuals, though: they are absolutely sensational.

Stirring, incredibly beautiful and full of emotion, Wolfwalkers is the medium of animation at its best. Reverent to history yet free to explore the spirit, it's a feast for the eyes and the soul.

Miyazaki would enjoy this. One of Ghibli's charms is telling children's stories/perspectives without losing adult interest and without condescension. They can also tell magic fantasy stories, but anchored to reality and man's place in this natural universe of consequences. Both apply to Wolfwalkers, and to say it could be an Irish-themed Ghibli is a complement. Really solid stuff - you can watch it with anyone. Some wonderful hints at (and callbacks on) protection vs nurture/growth/freedom.

Enjoyable fable is a little over extended, with sometimes variable quality of animation, but good fun, especially if you have a soft spot for myth and folklore – fun to see (or hear) Bean as a careworn father in a medieval setting (remind you of anyone?), and the colourful work by the voice cast generally makes this good (if occasionally sluggish) fun.

Thanks Apple TV for buying the rights to this so no one sees it. Now I'm going to seem like a film hipster instead of this having the mainstream hype it deserves.Wolfwalkers is a beautiful animated movie by Cartoon Saloon. The forest is filled to the brim with foliage and each frame feels like the most beautiful work of art while somehow not overwhelming the eyes. The voice acting is sweet and the story is creative, although being a family movie, I found some of the story beats very predictable

Utterly gorgeous animation about finding a place where you belong away from home. Borrows heavily from 'Princess Mononoke', but that's by far not the worst movie to get inspired by.

The animation is so alive, so vibrant,, full of colour and excellent design. Wolfwalkers is also hard on the heart because it's jammed full with genuine emotion. The father's arc is annoying at first but by the end--when he almost walks away as if he's not part of the pack--it fits. That's a slight dig I suppose, but it's almost flawless. Robyn and Mebh are a convincing friendship that drives the plot. Unfolds well, takes some interesting turns. Loved this from the opening scene.

Lovely counternarrative. A bit Disneyish start before they unleash the magic. From there on out, this is a truly beautiful, if sliiightly drawn-out, folk tale-ish story with fairy dust sprinkled all over it.

Glorious. Gorgeous art. Some of the background/secondary character designs of the villagers felt too "toony" for my taste at first, but it didn't keep bothering me after the film got going and I got used to it - and partway through the film I started thinking it actually makes quite a bit of thematic sense to mix art styles.

A ho-hum basic plot does go to some unexpected places, and hits some heartwarming moments. The star of course is the unique, gorgeous animation.

This is yet another beautiful Cartoon Saloon film. A beautiful folklore-ish story/plot with intriguing characters, enchanting animation and some lovely folk music played in the background. What's not to love? the animation isn't neon bright like some kids films - this is a film both children and adults can enjoy, its not dumbed down or anything, like the other Cartoon Saloon films, its just...lovely. A v. enjoyable, sometimes sad but ultimately a great film. I felt it was somewhat uplifting too.

Suffers from too many identical chase sequences and a poor script--the middle action is entirely comprised of characters shouting No! or each other's names. The art style sometimes dazzles and sometimes looks like when Itchy & Scratchy was replaced by Worker & Parasite.

Beautiful, stylistic and uniquely expressive art meets heartfelt and gripping fable full of childlike wonderment. Where the likes of Riverdance fall square on their face on the first base while trying to depict Irish culture and folklore, Wolfwalkers hits a double home run. Each freeze frame is an artpiece on its own!

The most beautiful animation I've ever seen. The characters are charming and the story is emotional, even if admittedly it's been done before. What mostly takes me away is the way it looks, though, the fluid motions of the wolves, the forest coming alive, the flames, the night sky, it's all just enjoyable to look at.

Very cozy movie, very moving. But, I hate to say this but, this all imperialism vs romanticism or industry vs nature thing done by Miyazaki in Princess Monosuke better. Don't get me wrong this movie is also amazing on its part. But the ending a bit dragged and expected. I love Tom Moore's works but both in terms of storytelling and visuals this is a bit step down for me. And I'm a guy who loves everything about Wolves and every fiction that has wolves. But still, it was missing a core imo.

It doesn't have the sweeping landscape that you can find in Miyazaki's film, but the visual style of the animation, the voice acting, Aurora's music, the poetic story all blend into a really immersing and captivating film

I love Moore's willingness to incorporate mythology into his films, as well as the beautiful look of the hand-drawn animation. On that front, this film seems a bit less dazzling than his previous two. But I love the themes of creation and creature care, as well as the contrasting false Christianity of the Lord Protector, a man whose path to safety involves maiming and destroying anyone or anything in the way of his goal.

It's such a beautifully drawn movie that we really had to stop and appreciate it. I have watched very few animations where the places are so well designed and the drawings are so beautiful. The story was cute, but I don't know if it was very good, and I really didn't liked the ending, but the general idea behind the main story, the elements of the pressure director wanted to empathized were also in place.

A multi-layered, rich story presented through dazzling animation. I adore the use (and absence) of colour to contrast the forest with the town; a simple but effective narrative device, used here to perfection. Some seemed grated by the father's arc; to me it served as a reminder that children's minds are so much more willing to accept the fantastical, though performance-wise maybe things could have been better in spots. I'll put this comfortably alongside the best animated movies I've ever seen.

Wolfwalkers is absolutely on par with Moore's wonderful previous efforts, harnessing gorgeous visuals, fabulous music (Bruno Coulais), and compelling story. What holds this back a hair for me is some of the more tired tropes in the otherwise engaging plot, namely the bigoted opposition and multiple characters that resist the truth for sake of drama. Still, these are fairly minor issues in another beautiful work from one of the most reliable artists in the medium.

Disappointing. It's quite predictable and very Disney-like in a lot of ways. The 'Running with the Wolves tonight' scene is a beautiful standout with dazzling visuals, but everything else is too familiar, too simple and limited in scope. Most characters are very one-dimensional which becomes really tiresome after Bean's character tells his daughter to do as she's told for the 100th time. Predictable final act. The writing doesn't feel very natural, it feels artificial and forced. Expected more.

With great animation, this is a about as close as you can get to putting a fairytale onto the screen. You can just imagine this story being told to little Irish children before bed. It is rich with story and beautiful to look at.

Wolfwalkers is a breath of fresh air with comic book inspired 2D animation, a distinctive setting of Ireland under British occupation, and an interesting mythology, all delivered with a charm unobscured by quippy dialogue or pop-culture references. Unfortunately, the plot doesn't quite live up to the atmosphere. Bean's character (the hunter) has an unbearable arc. His obstinance & refusal to listen to his daughter drives the direction of the plot, and it was irritating in practice & execution.
