Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell

While these two Chris Angel directed sequels may have introduced boobs to the franchise, nudity can't stop them both from feeling like a pair of long lost attempted pilots for some cheap 90's 'Sci-Fi Channel' original "Wishmaster" series. Although both films seriously suffer from the loss of Andrew Divoff as the titular "Wishmaster", the series is at its low point here with Jason Connery, as the Djinn, now stuck running around some Canadian college campus harassing co-eds into making wishes.

I genuinely feel embarrassed for everyone involved with this trainwreck. The script is consistently non-sensical, the effects piss-poor, and the characters somehow so cliched that they exist on some transcendent plane of banality. I couldn't continue watching, because I kept imagining the filming pausing every fifteen minutes to give some cast or crew member time to sob hysterically about the horrible turn their career took.

Stupid. The Djinn goes crazy on people through the climax without anyone having wished his powers loose. On top of that we had a wonderful excess of college kids running away scenes. The characters were garbage, the plot forgettable and the whole ending totally forced. Fastforwarded through plenty of the film after I got sick of pointless or extra long scenes, just stopping long enough to catch up on the plot.

I was ready to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I wasted my time doing that. The rules of the magic just keep being broken and deteriorated. It goes from a bad Scream wannabe to a bad Buffy the Vampire slayer wannabe. My bar was low and yet it still disappointed.

Man what a bad, sad, made for TV wanna be direct-to-video film. I really missed the evil grin of the previous Djinn.

The low point in the series, with a slight rebound in the 4th installment, even though they were filmed back to back. At this point, the series seems to be getting a little too convoluted in the Djinn myth for its own good, and diverting from the camp that made the first two movies good was a grave error.

Completely boring with a little decent gore here and there, but this was a pretty weak movie.

I had low expectations. I was not disappointed.

No Andrew Divoff..but some guy who looks like he came off the weakest link...hot chick in the beginning with no bra..after that the movie was so boring and horrible...Divoff is the wishmaster not this pansy

Bon: Sans prétention, quelques jolis effets spéciaux. Mauvais: Mauvais acting, scénario complètement débile, pas assez de présence du Djinn, manque d'originalité.

I haven't seen the two movies that set this one up, but this one hasn't made me want to.

Even simple costume design couldn't be kept for this one, it's just painful.

Well, the best thing I can say about it is it's a lot better than it should be. There are a few good stunts, the camera-work is passable, and the script pulls off the incredible feat of being simultaneously too cerebral and downright idiotic. I mean, yeah, it sucks dick, but do you really expect anything more from a movie entitled "Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell"?
