Have you ever wanted to watch 'Aladdin' and 'Crazy Rich Asians' at the same time? No? Well, here it is anyway.

Utterly forgettable take on the Aladdin story. Not terrible by any means, just a non event.

Thematically it's a retelling of Aladdin. The dynamic between the two main characters having a child at history makes it a bit more interesting. The witch dragon having a more fleshed out history and personality also helps a lot. Overall great film, though the villains seemed somewhat bland in their motivation, but style and personality great.

Representation matters, it certainly is refreshing to see an animation like this. Having said that though, the story is basically Aladdin, and unfortunately, that takes a little away from it because it lacks the originality that could have made this better.

After the unexpectedly sweet opening ten minutes, I was prepared to be pleasantly surprised by this. Unfortunately, nearly every subsequent scene and plot development is completely exasperating. This quickly becomes an assault of typical family film clichés, contrivances, and conflicts created by pointless misunderstandings. The film skews very young, and I suspect that audience of under-tens will enjoy this plenty, but I can't imagine this holding any appeal for anyone older.

A rework of Aladdin with a Chinese theme, because that's where all the money comes from these days to whitewash their global image. This is a simplistic take on the genie concept where the romance in the center takes up too much space and the evil bad guy was as bland as could get. Does provide enjoyment for the family and it's a joyous affair, but it could have been so much more too.

This is a fun, modern Chinese take on the ancient tale of Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp. Yes, it bears similarities to Disney’s take on the same ancient story, but it’s the same story.

Like Aladdin except with far more likeable and interesting characters.

Aladdin was so good that they keep re-making it. John Cho is no Robin Williams, but he did enough of a good job to keep me entertained throughout.

Really got bored by the middle of it.

While it does shamelessly steal many plot points wholesale from 'Aladdin', it's an okay children's movie.

I was bothered by the very unsubtle similarities between WD and Aladdin, until somewhere along the lines the feeling ebbed - only to make a crashing return by the third act twist WHICH IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS IN ALADDIN 3. So, yes. This is 102% Chinese retelling of Aladdin, with Jackie Chan as Aladdin. I would have rated this much lower if not for Long stealing the show, doing all the character development by himself and forcing a few chuckles out of me.

The pitch meeting probably went like this: "You see sir, we are an ancient civilization, thousands of years of history. We've got many legends and a relatively unspoiled culture. So let's rip off Aladdin." "That's brilliant!!" (clapping sounds) In the end, this is an animation equivalent of shameless Chinese knock offs. Like Sunbucks Coffee. (Google it)

Basically a poor man's Aladdin. The jokes for the most part are super basic and a big chunk fall flat. Kids would probably find them alright though. The plot beats are pretty similar, although I did like the change of environments and some story differences. Just a bit bland overall. Some Animation is decent, but most of it is clean and simple. Voice performances are fine, but the villain was very weak. Characters have predictable arcs and emotional scenes. Nothing special and below average.
