I wish... Disney would start making good movies again.

Really hoped the reviews were wrong about this one. I didn’t hate the film. It’s breezy, gorgeously animated and mildly amusing at times. Chris Pine’s Magnifico was the best performance and character. I’m sure children liked it. It’s by far Disney’s most generic movie in a long time, maybe ever. I didn’t get the “classic” vibes they may have been going for. Mostly forgettable/forced music numbers and characters, a silly climax and cringy references to their better movies killed it for me.

The animation style wasn't for me, and overall it's Disney's weakest effort since the one-two whammy of 'Home on the Range' and 'Chicken Little' almost twenty years ago. It does, however, have a few decent ideas and a thematically sound climax.

"When you order a golden age Disney animated film from wish.com." The plot gets worse the more you think about it, the songs aren't memorable (and Lin-Manuel Miranda should sue for making him look bad), and the characters are so shallow. I've watched better Disney TV episodes. Disney 100 deserves better. Fav scenes: the references are obvious but still appreciated.

We definitely watched different movies. You're all straight-up WRONG about this, and I don't say definitive stuff like that very often, but I believe the culture of the wannabe-critics kills reception for a movie like this, long before anything the movie actually does wrong. It's a fairy tale you dopes, with excellent music and a quick, classic storyline. I'm just happy to see Disney depart from the "what if _____ had feelings?" premise and show me something new - even if it IS something old.

A disappointing mess. The animation is plain and uninspired, even while trying to dazzle. This is especially true of the characters. The conflict is fabricated where it doesn't feel organic, so the 'villain' ends up feeling unbalanced and 2 dimensional. There is no unique point to make, there's just... no inspiration, here, it feels vague and lacking direction. The only thing I wish for is a better movie, I'd gladly give it over just so I could forget.

I wish for something more than this - a culmination of everything bad that’s been brewing at Disney for more than a decade. - the main character is selfish, self-absorbed, and shallow; demonstrably and irredeemably so, from the first five minutes of the movie - the central plot revolves around weaponizing hope - every character is soulless - the songs are exposition, but there’s nothing too big happening, so the songs are meaningless - every bit of (important) dialog is faff

I didn’t think it was TOO bad compared to some of the highly negative reviews I saw, but not in Disney’s top tier either. Nice island-kingdom settings and Asha is a cute protagonist; songs catchy enough in the moment but haven’t stuck with me at all even an hour after watching. Climactic sequence felt as random as at the end of the first Pokémon movie when all the Pokémon tears revive Ash lol

Disney's 2D films took three years to animate, but Wish took just three months. It SHOWS. Despite the director claiming that 3D allows for more versatile camera angles, the poorly executed visuals suggest a focus on speed and cost-cutting. The animation is the worse I've even seen from Disney. Also since Frozen, the studio has avoided giving female leads romantic interests, possibly due to the era of independent women where an equal male partner might clash with a 'no need to help' attitude.

Hermosa y redonda cinta de animación que celebra el centenario de Disney con una historia sencilla pero atractiva con unos personajes y una música aún más inolvidables que de costumbre.

The definition of mediocre. Story which plays out exactly as you’d expect with not so great results or excitement, the songs not being that mediocre, and even the animation is meh. Forgettable characters and a bland villain.

Notably bad. Plot is weak and predictable, the villain has no real background or motive, and all-in-all totally forgettable, except a couple of ok laughs and the cute star character.

feels gross to watch. filled with disney references that don't end up being actual jokes on their own, songs and lyrics with no flow to them (i remember the melody of none of them), and it's. just. not funny. very tone-deaf in its "let the people chase their own desires" plot while being one of the richest companies on earth that quashes creativity in the name of sequels, remakes, "look what we used to make"s, and money above all else.

Nothing like celebrating a century-long legacy of creativity and innovation with an incredibly bland animated musical. Should've gone way crazier with the references, imo. Ariana DeBose innocent!

I liked that they tried to do something meta for Disney's 100 birthday. Unfortunately the setup makes no sense, which is a shame since the rest of the movie is not bad.

Disney's "Wish" is a visually jarring musical with poorly motivated songs and forgettable characters. Despite some competent voice acting, the story is bland and uninteresting. The film's attempt at a distinct visual style falls flat, and the constant references to other Disney properties feel out of place. A disappointing addition to Disney's catalogue. 3/10

The film was pleasant enough, I liked the themes and concept of the story. But the songs were not some of disneys best work, and the animation style felt a little off. I feel like it had so much more potential.

Better than the reviews made me believe, but as a culmination of 100 years of Disney, it sure falls short. It's generic and although, a week later, I can barely remember the plot or any songs from it, it still entertained me and the kids for the duration which is more than I can say about e.g. Illumination's "Migration". The limited references to Disney classics felt like an afterthought.

Pretty animation, some good humor, but mediocre music and a paper thin cliche plot. The some subtle and some not so subtle Disney references were a plus for me personally, but I imagine they weren't a positive for many.

W3E1P1S1V2M2A1R1. Similar to Greatest Showman in having a banging soundtrack (with only a few utter misses--At All Costs and I'm a Star) marred by a very muddled and confusing movie. Mostly because the villain is totally underdeveloped. But we've watched it many times because the songs are (mostly) just great, and it still has that Disney charm/emotional pull, even if it's clumsy and derivative and not quite as imaginative as the Encantos/Inside Outs of the world.

Not the greatest of Disney films. Limited story, odd animation style. Made it feel more like a made-for-TV movie. But I'd say, this was one of their musical where I was least irritated about the songs. So it was a fine experience. Just not up to what was their old standard.

Plenty of valid criticism has been levied against Wish; here's mine: Asha comes across as the true villain. She pushes everyone else's wishes aside to get to the one she wants, destabilises a contented kingdom against sound advice, and creates a monster out of a decent albeit insecure king. It's like American Foreign policy, but unintentional. More effort is spent portraying her friends as Snow White's dwarves than on the script. Everything about this film, songs included, is simply mediocre.

So bad it hurts. Ultimate sellout fan service. Can't believe we got a Kirby/Mario star when the concept art was actually gorgeous. I did like Julia Michaels and JP Saxe's musical touches. Ariana DeBose absolutely crushed what she was given to perform.

It’s no classic, but I was rather charmed by this and am surprised at just how much derision it gets. Like a few Disney projects over the last few years it plays very safe, to its detriment really and I suspect a more challenging and engaging version of this film sits on a dusty original storyboard somewhere, which is a reoccurring issue with so much of Disneys recent output. Nicely voiced, solid songs, my kids all had a good time with it and I guess so did I.

It was okay, but felt a bit jumbled and forgettable. Couldn't remember anyone's name other than Asha. The songs felt a bit overly complicated and randomly placed. There didn't feel like much character backstory or development for anyone in the entire movie, much less how quickly the villain turned from good to evil. Good animation, and the goat was funnier than expected.

Honestly, this is my favorite Disney animated movie since at least Frozen, if not Tangled! If you're a fan of Disney musicals, this is a must see! This is really Disney embracing what made their classics so well loved, while still creating something that feels fresh. Make sure you stick around for the credits too, and I recommend 3D! I really don't know what's up with some of the reviews here.

The best thing I can say about this movie is that I found it completely innocuous while watching it and it's less than an hour-and-a-half long. It's a shaggier movie than last year's solidly-structured yet dully perfunctory Strange World, but unlike that ho-hum finger-drummer, Wish moves along in a way that I found more ineffective than outright boring.
