Notable chiefly for being the spark that ignited Newman's love of race car driving. It feels like a TV movie, and in fact, that was the original idea - until Newman got involved. Predictably, the budget swelled, but the sensibility, alas, remained the same. An impressive film debut for Richard Thomas--he's the most interesting actor on screen. There's always something rather schoolmarmish about Joanne Woodward, though she's a kinda slutty one here. A solid performance from Robert Wagner's tan.

This movie is more of a family drama than a thrilling race film. It is not surprising the Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward work well together. Overall this is a good movie and I would recommend it.
