Wings Over Honolulu (1937) was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Cinematography category? Why?! There is close to nothing to warrant such acclaim. Standard B-movie production values of the most economical kind. Wings Over Honolulu is so unremarkable that it's almost forgotten today. I liked Wendy Barrie and Ray Milland was suitable as her hunky lead, but the story was a weak throwaway navy romance with barely anything logic in it, and the almost award-winning cinematography was even worse.
